Your quintessential Catskills cabin in the woods on a river awaits. With a screened porch on the front, and a covered porch in back, the ground floor's primary space is open plan, including an updated kitchen with ample cabinetry and an island with breakfast bar. There is plenty to lounge in front of the river rock-fronted stone fireplace, which has an insert, perfect for enjoying the ambiance of the fire, and the efficiency of the heat generated. The current owners installed French doors to the rear covered porch, a favored spot for entertaining and just hanging out in summer.
Also on the ground floor is a 10x10’ bedroom with closet, and the adjacent bathroom includes a shower stall and a good-sized linen closet.
Upstairs there is a room to the left (approx. 10x12’) and to the right (approx 19x13’), which do not have doors separating them, and which are currently used as bedrooms.
There are a couple of electric wall heaters in the house, but to use the home in winter would require some upgrades to prevent pipes from freezing.
The real attraction is the outdoors. Firstly, it is the second to last home on an exceptionally pretty country road (Denning Rd), that ultimately terminates at an estate and a Slide Mountain hiking trail. On the grounds themselves, there is a stream that pools along a sandy bank into a small, flowing pond, while the very picturesque headwaters of the Neversink River, home to small native brook trout, eagles and other wildlife, tumbles along, parallel to the stream.
While the house is not in the flood plain, much of the land is. Current owners pay $275/year for flood insurance.
Denning Cabin provides an incredibly peaceful environment in a particularly magical, somewhat secluded area.
