Local Sights/Activities/Eateries/Businesses

Global Home is a go-to source for stylish furniture and housewares in Jeffersonville.

• There are a number antiques stores in the area: Bridgewater Mercantile is much more than just antiques: country collectibles, yummy soaps, custom farm tables, and more. In Liberty: Artisans Gallery Antiques, Town & Country, and Ferndale Antiques (just outside Liberty).

Sonoma Falls Cider Mill & Country Market is a new addition to the area, and is a good outing for adults and children alike. There are a few different areas that cover: local produce market; petting zoo; pony rides and horse trekking; cider mill/maple syrup sap house. You can grab a simple lunch (hot dogs, grilled cheese, etc.) and admire the dramatic, multi-tiered waterfalls on the grounds; go for a hike; grab a rod provided and catch dinner from the trout pond, which they’ll clean and you can take home (for a fee). There’s more still, so check out the site for details and directions.

The Lazy Beagle Pub & Grill is Livingston Manor’s hotspot, and enjoys an after work buzz on Fridays. Terrific food and varied menu. A few samples: burgers that receive really high marks, steaks, pecan encrusted trout, enchiladas, and a lot more. Located at the (only) light. This restaurant has quickly developed a loyal following, for good reason.

Fly Fishing

Wulff School of Fly Fishing - The ne plus ultra for fly fishing in the Northeast, in Lew Beach, NY. Some of the best public access trout fishing can also be found nearby on the famous Willowemoc, Beaverkill, and Neversink Rivers. Here’s a good article that ran in the Daily News about fishing these waters. The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum in Livingston Manor is a hub for instruction, events, and history surrounding the sport that was introduced to America in this very area. We know a wonderful professional fishing guide who would be happy to share his knowledge (and of course some wonderful stories!). Catskill Flies is the best shop around for flies and equipment, and they have a good daily river conditions report on their site.
